At the end of April 2009 we flew to Seattle for the first time to have Patrick evaluated for a small bowel transplant. He loved the flight and amazed us with his patience for several long days of tests. We'd expected 2 days of appointments and tests, but were surprised at the end of day 2 with a request for Patrick to spend the night in the hospital. They wanted to draw so much blood for labs that he needed a transfusion afterwards.
